1
Dynamics of disinformation
This lecture examines the effects of online misinformation. We will discuss how the Internet has changed the information dynamic, allowing misinformation to spread faster than it can be disproved. Particular attention will be paid to the role of authoritarian regimes in spreading false narratives and the challenges these narratives create.
2
Discussion of the problem
This lecture explores the new phenomenon of disinformation that has emerged thanks to the online campaigns of the last decade. We'll look at different theories and expert views, from those who see such campaigns as a serious threat to democracy to those who think they're exaggerated. The discussion will help to understand why research on disinformation has not yet reached a consensus.
3
Means of legal protection
This lecture examines different strategies for combating disinformation, their advantages and disadvantages. We will consider approaches such as pre-bunking, which can prevent the spread of propaganda but has a limited effect; refutation (debunking), which sets the standard of truth, but can spread the original falsification; media literacy, which supports democratic values, but does not always reach everyone; and public resilience that reinforces democratic values, but is expensive and only reaches those who already support those values.
4
Countering Propaganda with Constructive Communication, Part 1
This lecture examines how to effectively counter propaganda using positive and constructive messages. Special attention will be paid to the development of strategies that contribute to the formation of a positive image and support democratic values.
5
Countering Propaganda with Constructive Communication, Part 2
We'll discuss why it's important to avoid simply refuting misinformation and how to create compelling messages that can take a strong position in the information space.
